Sacha Thomas, Megan Pye and Olivier Vedrenne represented our club at the 2019 Swim England Winter Nationals in Sheffield. The qualifying times were more challenging this year than previous years so these 3 swimmers did exceptionally well to qualify.
Sacha qualified in 6 events. On the first day she raced the 100 metres butterfly and 100 metres freestyle. Sacha smashed her PB’s in both finishing the butterfly in 1:01.50 and freestyle in 56.42. She placed 7th in both Youth Finals, which are for 18 years and under. In the 50 metres butterfly she broke her PB in the heats and again in the final to touch in 8th. She also swam excellent PB’s in her 200 metres freestyle and 100 metres individual medley.
Megan Pye raced 2 events in Sheffield – the 50 metres and 200 metres backstroke. She swam an excellent 50 metres in a time of 29.54 to make a seasons best. The 200 metres backstroke was her 2nd fastest time this season and progressing in the right direction.
Olivier Vedrenne was one of a few 14 year olds to qualify in the whole competition. He raced in the 200 metres breaststroke finishing in an impressive 2:25.43.
Well done to Sacha, Megan and Olivier for representing the club brilliantly.
