Our team of 12 City of Norwich swimmers attended the 2021 Swim England Winter National Championships between 3rd-5th December in Sheffield. This was the largest City of Norwich team to attend Winter Nationals. Team members were Adel Zakrzewski, Sacha Thomas, Molly Monk, Jessica-Jane Applegate, Grace Greenhalf, Olivier Vedrenne, Megan Pye, Ben Blowers, Ruby Greenhalf, Joe McGillivray, Sophia Pickering and Harry Jones. All swimmers enjoyed their return to national level competition and they represented the club brilliantly.
At 16, Olivier Vedrenne excelled in his breaststroke events. In the 200 meters breaststroke Olivier swam to a 2:13.17 PB making his first senior final and winning gold in junior age group. Olivier smashed his PB in the 100 meters breaststroke 1:02.22 claiming the junior bronze.
Molly Monk enjoyed an outstanding Winter Nationals making her first senior final in the 100 meters breaststroke placing 9th. Molly also placed 16th in her 200 meters breaststroke.
At just 14 years old, Grace Greenhalf broke her 100 meters individual medley PB with 1:04.80 placing her 5th junior (16 years and under). Grace also lowered her PB in the 100 meters freestyle with a 58.41. Sophia Pickering, also 14 years old was swimming in her first nationals beating her 50 meters backstroke PB.
