Welfare and Safeguarding – helpful information
CONSC is committed to providing a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for all club members led by the Wavepower policies and procedures document developed by Swim England. (It’s incorporated in the Club Handbook and our Codes of Conduct etc.)
CONSC now operate with a small team of Welfare volunteers and our Welfare Officer is currently XXX who can be contacted via email at: CONSCWelfare@gmail.com
For Non-urgent but important Safeguarding/Welfare concerns:
- You can email the Welfare Officer directly for non-urgent Safeguarding or Welfare issues, or use the club website form to submit an email on the Contact Us page.
- You can contact the SE Child Safeguarding team on 01509 640252 for advice.
- You can contact the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000 for advice.
- Other contact information and support information is available on the SE Norfolk Welfare website or the SE East Region website.
- Please remember that it is important to raise all safeguarding concerns and our Club Welfare Officer will be happy to help deal with them appropriately.
For an urgent Safeguarding/Welfare concern when you perceive there to be an immediate risk of harm to a child/young person/individual:
- You should contact the police using 999 immediately and say you have a Safeguarding concern and seek their advice.
- In the event that someone has already been injured or harmed and requires immediate medical attention then prioritise this medical attention first, calling an ambulance if required.
- Please also attempt to notify the CONSC Welfare Officer as soon as possible.
General Safeguarding and Welfare help:
- Young people can contact Childline for free on 0800 1111 or speak to a counsellor about any worries or concerns they may have. The website has lots of useful information to help.
- You can also let site specific Safeguarding officers know if you have a safeguarding concern and someone is present, e.g. Sportspark Staff. In this case, please also follow this up by contacting the Club Welfare Officer.
- Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, so please raise any concerns you have with the Welfare team.
- If someone discloses details to you which should be raised as a safeguarding concern then it is your duty to do so. Try to record any details disclosed as factually as you can and then report them to the Welfare Officer.
- Wavepower is an extensive document and contains lots of useful information for all club members.
